This eerie night will include a catered dinner from the Best Western Premier in Alton and it will be served in the Crystal Dining Room at the 1914 Mineral Springs Hotel. After dinner, author Troy Taylor will be presenting “Murdered in their Beds,” a chilling journey back in time that delves into the unsolved Midwest Ax Murders of the early 1900s, with a special look at the history and hauntings of the Villisca, Iowa, murders of 1912. You don’t want to miss this special night, so make your reservations now!

“MURDERED IN THEIR BEDS” BY TROY TAYLOR

Just about everyone with an interest in haunted history is familiar with the murders that occurred in the home of J.B. Moore in Villisca, Iowa, in June 1912. The horrifying crime became the deadliest unsolved murders in Iowa history and created a haunting that continues to this day. The small town of Villisca had received an unwelcome visitor on that dark night and the town was touched by a horror unlike anything it had ever seen, before or since.

But that night in June was not the first time that the monster that committed the “Villisca Ax Murders” had tasted blood. He blazed a terrible trail across the Great Plains in the years before — and after — the murders in Iowa, using the railroads to carry out his horrific deeds.

Troy began researching the Villisca murders in the early 2000’s and became the first author to tell the story of not only the murders in Villisca, but offered a tale of madness, murder, brutality, bloodshed, and the story of the “transient butcher” who wreaked havoc in the American Midwest and then vanished into history, his name and face forever unknown.

But this presentation is more than just a look inside the pages of Troy’s book!

For the first time, he’ll be presenting an additional murder connected to “the Axman,” as well as new accounts and updates about Villisca and the other murders, as well as new stories of hauntings that have never been told before.

This is a special event, so you don’t want to miss it!
